The role
As a System Administrator you will manage and secure servers, endpoints, and cloud environments, ensuring performance, availability, and compliance while supporting daily operations and IT projects.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and optimize Linux and Windows-based servers and endpoints.
- Provision, deploy, and manage devices and applications using Microsoft Intune MDM and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
- Ensure system availability, performance, and security across platforms.
- Support and maintain virtual and cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure and AWS environments (VPCs, EC2, VM instances, networking, etc.).
- Perform regular system maintenance, patch management, and backup procedures.
- Respond to tickets and incidents, troubleshoot technical issues, and proactively resolve root causes.
- Monitor system health, usage, and logs for security or performance anomalies.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with IT colleagues and other departments to support business needs and implement technology projects.
- Maintain and enforce security policies, permissions, and access controls.
- Stay informed of emerging trends in cloud services, modern device management, and system administration.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar IT support role.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Server environments.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune MDM and Entra ID (Azure AD concepts, conditional access, device compliance, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Azure services (VMs, storage, networking) and/or AWS (EC2, IAM, S3, and VPC).
- Strong troubleshooting skills in multi-platform environments.
- Understanding of networking principles, firewalls, and security best practices.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS
- Certified Solutions Architect, or similar.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
